Troubleshooting~
The DVD player will not switch on.
Press and hold the “ON” button for 3 seconds for the player to switch on. (Same procedure applies to the “OFF” button.)
The battery won’t fit.
The battery connection upon the DVD player is covered by a rubber cover, when newly delivered. This needs to be removed before the battery can be fitted.
I've attached the battery and the DVD player will not switch on.
The contacts between the player and battery were not made in one smooth movement and the DVD player has corrupted. Remove the battery and refit it, using a smooth movement.
Can the battery be charged whilst watching a movie?
Yes. The battery indicator turns green as the battery condition improves.
What is the battery duration?
Battery life on the SDV17, SDV27 and SDV37 players is approximately 3 hours
Battery life on the SDV77 and SDV185 players is approximately 2.5 hours
I can’t power my DVD player from the mains adaptor.
If the player still works perfectly using the cigarette lighter power cord, then the mains adaptor has failed. Contact us for a replacement or repair to this product.
The movie stops, jump or won’t play.
Remove the DVD disk and check for damage, dirt or fingerprints and clean as necessary. If the cleaned disk still suffers from the same problem, try playing a disk that you know works – if it does, then the first disk is the problem; if it doesn't, then the player has a problem. Contact us for help or a repair.
I have poor video playback quality and the audio is muffled.
An external source is playing back through the DVD player whilst the DVD player is also playing. Turn off / disconnect the external input signal source. Remove the INPUT/OUTPUT cables from the side of the player if necessary.
When I connect the DVD to my TV, the image on the TV is black and white and is rolling up the screen constantly, but the image on the tablet player is OK.
The TV and DVD player must be set to the same image format to work perfectly together. If a PAL only TV is used, you must set the DVD player to PAL output; for an NTSC TV, the DVD output must be set to NTSC. Press "SETUP", choose “VIDEO”, move right and choose the appropriate output, press "ENTER" and then "SETUP".
There’s no sound from the TV / Amplifier when the DVD player is connected
Check and remake all connections. (Yellow connector is the Video and the black connector is the Audio on the DVD player.) Check to see if there is sound from the DVD player itself, by turning up the volume. Check the DVD player SETUP for AudioCheck the receiving TV / amplifer is configured correctly to receive the signals.
Picture quality is poor when I play the DVD movie through my VCR in to my TV.
This happens because the DVD disk has been encoded with software to prevent it being copied on to a VCR. Simply play the movie directly through the TV and NOT the VCR.
How do I get my DVD player to show a picture from another source, such as a camcorder or another DVD player?
Your DVD player needs setting to "DVD IN" - press the Menu “M” button five times (passing the brightness, contrast, ratio, and mirror settings) to get to the DVD IN/OUT setting. Press "+" to change to INPUT mode.
I have mislaid the remote control for my tablet DVD player?
Contact us for a replacement.
The remote control has stopped working.
Approach the DVD player more closely or remove obstructions between the DVD player and the remote control handset. If it still doesn't work, change the battery in the remote control. It requires battery type CR2025 (don’t touch both sides of the battery when inserting it in to the remote control, as this will permanently damage it). Ensure the battery is the right way up when fitted, as illustrated on the back of the remote control.
What is the curly piece of plastic in the corner of my screen?
This protective plastic sheet was applied in the production process to ensure that the screen was not scratched during manufacturing or shipment to you. Simply pull on the curly plastic corner firmly to remove the whole protective sheet and expose a clear perfect monitor underneath.
My screen has dark lines across it, to a point in the middle. When pressed it looks like fluid underneath. What’s wrong?
The glass upon LCD panel has been smashed. Some picture may still the visible. But basically it’s not watchable. The panel is replaceable but this is not covered under warranty. Contact the NEXTBASE Product Support Centre for a repair to the product.
I have one Pixel on my screen which appears black. Is this normal ?
One pixel in this condition (or any colour) is considered normal. As there are 336960 pixels on the LCD display, one pixel failed is just 0.0003% which is within the production acceptance.
Why can't I play DVD+RW disks that my friend has recorded for me?
Whilst the DVD player does play most DVD+RW disks, +RW is not a recognised official format, and as such it is not consistent and is best avoided if possible!
